Chores for Kids | Clothes Folding Hack Brought To You by Kuya (@divinekids)

Never fear, Kuya just discovered this clothes folding hack for you.

Yesterday, as we were folding the laundry, Kuya mentioned that he watched a video online which teaches kids how to properly fold clothes.

"We will only need a small piece of cardboard, rectangular in shape and that's it!"

I thought of a cereals carton, but I just threw away the last one we had. My mommy brains were working fast though, and I immediately handed him a notebook before he changes his mind about folding his clothes. LOL.

"What's the notebook for, Mommy?" he asked. "It's too small."

I said that's fine since he has small shirts. Then I showed him how to do it once and then he got convinced.

While I was hanging Little Miss and Little Monster's clothes outside to dry, he started to fold his own clothes and was done before I knew it.

"Whew! That was cool. Folding clothes is one of my favorite things to do now."

Me: GOOD. lols

The Hack

So kids, mums and dads out there who would like to teach their kids about the trick, here it goes.

It is as easy as 1... 2... 3... 4!

As mentioned above, you will originally need a rectangular cardboard. Since there was none handy at the time, Kuya used his old notebook for the task.

Step 1:

• Lay the t-shirt on a flat surface with the back side up. Be sure to straighten the edges and clear the crumples.

Step 2:

• Place the cardboard (or the notebook in this example) at the middle of the t-shirt.

Step 3:

• Neatly fold the shirt from the sides and follow the edge of the notebook.

Step 4:

• Pull the notebook out and viola! You have a neatly folded t-shirt already!

I normally fold and keep the kids' clothes in pairs already, so we do not have to waste time each morning finding shirts and pants. So I also taught Kuya to do the same for his clothes. That way, he just needs to pull a set and he's done.

Chores for Kids

There are lots of age-appropriate house chores we can make our children do. For Kuya, now 9, he washes the dishes, throws the trash and vacuums the floors regularly. He also helps me in hanging his siblings' clothes from time to time and he initiates to collect the clothes outside when they're dry. Though there are still times you have to remind him, but I'd also say he is still doing a great job.

The two smaller ones, Little Miss and Little Monsters are still young to do these, but they also help out in cleaning up their toys.

It should not be hard. It just takes proper training and sticking to the routine. When they get used to it, they will do it automatically.

Well, there are times when we get meltdowns and down pours. But hey, they're kids so we have to be more forgiving. 😍

And yeah! The more you give them tasks to do, they will find ways to finish it easier and faster.
