I just walked past a house in my neighborhood and all I could hear was a woman raining abusive words on his child. This was not the first time I had heard the woman abusing the boy with such words but the reaction on the boy’s face said it all, He had already started feeling worthless. Many parents in our part of the world use abusive words on their children without knowing the effects it can have on them. I understand we all have different personalities and so whilst some of us will grow in such an abusive environment without it having any serious effect on us, others grow up to either become abusive as their parents or they live their lives feeling inferior. The boy in this case has already started showing signs of inferiority complex and I just could not shake the feeling of there being several others like him in our country. We as a people out of our ignorance have contributed to the mental slavery we find ourselves in.
This affects everything because a person feeling inferior might have the answer to a question in class n yet sit there caught in two minds. He might have an idea that could change the outcome of a situation and yet never voice his opinion out since he thinks it won’t to be accepted.
Its however not too late to change as a society. We first of all need to find less abusive ways of correcting people and we need to find less demeaning ways of brushing opinions and suggestions aside.
And to everyone out there feeling Inferior, its time to move out of it. Stop comparing yourself to others. Theodore Roosevelt said “comparison is a thief of joy”. Be the best version of you and do not try to be a better version of someone else. Accept the fact that you are unique with your own specific abilities and qualities. Be confident in your abilities and understand that it’s okay to feel nervous. Everyone feels nervous at a point in time.

And Finally to those out there feeling inferior remember these words by Eleanor Roosevelt, “No one can make you feel inferior without your consent."

Well as for the kid in my neighbourhood, I waited for the mother to leave and i called him to talk to him and made sure I put a smile on his face before I left. After all what he had done did not warrant the kind of abusive words being used on him.
