Suggestions for running a contest here
Hey Steemians!
I am an artist (look at my other posts) and would like to connect with more Steemians. A contest seems like an ideal way.
I'm noticing that there are many cool contests going on at any given time in this beautiful & Steemy world. Art contests, music contests, writing contests, curation contests, and oh so many more. Well.... I'd like to hold some contests myself.... But I'd love your thoughts (just comment below please):
What would you prefer for a prize? Would you prefer Steem? Steem Power? A digital painting of you (you can make a print out of it, you can use it as a profile pic, biz card, etc)? A print of an existing painting of mine? Something else that's related
What have been the best contests that you've seen here (as in what did you have to do, how does one win, and what was the prize)?
What's the best way to get people to find a contest in here?
In my previous life (Pre-Signing up for Steemit) - I would hold the occasional contest on FB - you'd need to like a post / share a post, and leave a comment. Follow, maybe tag a friend. Are these things all legit on here?
Any advice / tips / tricks / etc -- for making a great contest on here?

There are quite a few contests for photography, not as many for art. I like the ones with a rotating theme, so if one week you dont like the topic, the next week you might. Most servers have a contest channel where you can drop your post link, or another way is word of mouth chatting in the right community.
I think you need to look at what Peachy and Isaria are doing as the current high bar. But they have both been here over two years and have connections and backing. Some people stipulate resteem or upvote, others do not.
I think CC is a good reward mechanism, maybe in addition to steem, which seems unstable atm. A print is a nice offer if its virtual offer only. The bigger prizes will get at a bigger draw only if the person is well known. Look at other contests in the creative realm, at what they offer for rewards, then look at what you would be able to reasonably offer yourself.
