Longevity 长寿

One of our friends visited a village in China in which the people live much longer than most people elsewhere. Our friend and her team were there to learn the secret of a lifestyle leading to longevity. It was impressive hearing her meeting with villagers who live more than one hundred years old.

But I humourlessly asked our friend whether these people of the village could live forever. Our common sense reminds us fairly well that the people eventually have to die irrespective of how long can they live. Certainly, we need to learn to live healthily so that we can live longer. But there are two critical questions we need to answer to be truly blessed.

First, even though we may live long, it must have a purpose, if not, it is vain. Hence, we need to ask ourselves whether we are living with a worthwhile purpose today.

Second, even though we may live long, have we got the answer to be able to live beyond death? It is good news if we pass away, we indeed pass on to another realm of life, which is to live forever and ever.

Therefore, having an authentic and blessed life is one that is purposeful and everlasting.

我们的一位朋友参观了中国的一个村庄，在那里人们的寿命均比其他地方的人长得多。我们的朋友和她的团队到那里以了解长寿秘诀；听到她与一百多岁的村民见面也的确令人印象深刻。

但我打趣地问朋友有关这长寿村的人是否可以永远活着。我们拥有的常识提醒人最终还是会死，即使他们很长寿。当然，我们有必要学会健康地生活，这样才能活得更久；然而有福的人还需要能夠回答两个关键性问题。

首先，即使我们可能长寿，但它必须具备有价值的人生目的，不然生活也会变得空洞。所以我们需要问自己今天是否有一个有价值的人生目标。

其次，即使我们可以长寿，我们是否已经拥有超越死亡的答案呢？好消息应该是在我们去世时，我们能确保自己会进入另一个领域，即是永恒。

因此，拥有真实和蒙福的人生，即包括了现在有意义的活着，並享有永远的生命。
