#MarchMadness - Day 4

in #partiko5 years ago (edited)

March Madness, I have to give it a try although I write (and tell) mainly short stories and for sure I have a lack of words. In between I try to read more in English
Who knows I can make a long story out of all the short stories I will write this month?

I learned, thanks to @mariannewest, there is always a story to tell, no matter what the prompt is. If you like to join or like to be a #MMFan (reading the novels written this month) please do so @freewritehouse see HERE.

I did use the prompt sound for Day 4.
Here you can read what I already wrote:

03-04 (Day 4) - word count: 1716

They smiled at each other as the wind carried the laughter over to them.
After all these years someone did laugh again and... was able to make others laugh as well.
'I think our son is doing well', she thought. He could only agree with that. It had been a long time ago he left and not long after he did they did so too.
They had made an agreement with all the eldest they would do so as soon as they were no longer needed. They would gather at the forgotten place. It was easy to find and it was a safe place as well.

'I had a dream', he thought, 'times will change soon. We have to stay strong, wait just a bit longer and fight for what is left over of our world. So many years have passed.'

'Our world? What if the world gives up on us, does not need us any longer? What made us think it is ours to rule.'

'It isn't, it never was. It is only us to blame. Everything that happened... We made a mess out of it.'

'You really think we can make it up?'

'To be honest I don't think so, but I do believe we can start something new if we all agree with it, are willing to do so.'

As the sun came up the world looked less dark and lost as it was.
'My dear family, my companions', he said, 'how good it is to see you here. A lot did happen to us, our families. There are not many left over of those who once were. There is no need to talk about who's fault it was. If it comes to it... we are all guilty of it. Once, they thought we were the wise ones. We turned out not to be. We brought danger to those we loved. Killed who warned us. Created an impossible world for our children to live in.

I cannot say how sorry I feel, but I am happy to tell you we are not alone and there is hope. It was in my dream and I am sure some of you had the same dream or feel it too. The sun gives life, Mother gives a new chance and the wind... the wind brought us good news. There are voices and there is laughter. The air is filled with it, so there is a good reason to hope. The time is near. We had to wait for years to pay off our debts.
Mother told us to save something for her. To save what is hers and precious to each one of us. Soon it will be time to set it free. The question is: Do we all go back to where we once came from or do we start a new life at a new place together?'

After he said what he had to say it remained silent. He knew there was a lot to think about. For years they lived together. They became close, family. Many would have nothing to return to or might not have the strength any longer building a new life for themselves.

Just the day before some of them were alarmed as the wind brought the unexpected visitor.
She asked for the white person that visited the train, wanted to know the message it seemed to have for the train operator. A message spoken in words he did not understood, but she was willing to deliver it to him. None of them had said a word. They never did to strangers, they kept their minds blank. The community they lived in for so many years became very close and they didn't feel the need to share or get out into the open. It was too dangerous to do so. Enough mistakes were made in the past. All the result of blind trust.
It came as a big shock she had found them. They always thought the place was not only abandoned but also forgotten. It became one of the many ghost towns in the world after so many died upon the hill centuries ago.

Before anyone could speak a clear voice out of nowhere said: 'You are family now.
You lived together, build a life together. Nobody can change that. Your bond is stronger as blood. It is true, it is time to get out in the open. A new world can start right here at this place. 'G's Hill' can be the heart, a heart to start with. Do what you have to do and take your companions with you. The enemy is still here.'

Clear language had been spoken. They all heard it no matter where they were. A voice so loud and strong and at the same time full of love. What had to be said was said. They read each others thoughts, shared the same wish to stay together. It was true they had became one and they all had the same needs and gifts given by time. A time in need. A completely new outlook on life was given.

'So 'G's Hill it is', she said, 'I heard my son, he is near and he is looking for his companion.
As soon as he found her, he will know where to find us. How about you?'
She looked at a couple who sat on the floor.

'We heard both of them laughing, they will have to do what they need to do first. I know they will show up sooner or later or build their own world. If it comes to it everything they do is fine. After all it is their life.'

He smiled as he thought of his sons. The time they lived separated felt longer as it was. He wondered if the house was still there, who took care of it now both boys decided to make something out of their lives.
'Most important of all is that they live their lives, life should be lived', he thought as he smiled as his wife.

'Yes it should', her eyes said.
She stroke her companion over it's head, while she exchanged some words with him.

'Let's take a walk and enjoy before the light is gone. In short time we all will be travellers.'

He agreed. Together they walked in the opposite direction of the railways, followed by their companions, through the ruins of what once had been 'G's Hill' and soon would be the beating heart of a new, brave world.

The travellers and their companions decided to go back into the city and sleep in the tunnels they used for travelling.
Their way of living was still different from the rest. They were used to sleep more frequently for shorter times. They could sleep and travel day and night, were always ready to leave , rarely felt tired. They had more similarities with their companions as the others. Their senses were stronger. They were more sensitive and simply knew. Among the travellers there was hardly any need to communicate by words. If they already didn't knew, the could see or smell the change and... the words others need to use to make something clear. Therefore they could understand and speak all languages.

Some left too, others stayed. They all needed time to think. Think about what the Mother told them to save for her till the time was right. They all cared and kept it safe, protected it with their lives. It could not be set free before she told them to do so. She needed her rest. Rest and harmony were both needed and had to be back long before that time.

As the train stopped he waited.
The wind had become quiet, not one single sound could be heard. After some time he heard a man's voice. He was talking to a woman. Carefully he crawled to the edge of the carriage, lifted his head, looked around the corner. He saw a couple holding hands, leaving. He decided to wait a bit longer. He wasn't sure if there was just one operator. After waiting a bit longer he climbed out of the carriage. He needed to find his brother. Although his brother did not know it yet, he had made a promise to him. He would help to free his new friend out of the crate.
Without making any noise he walked over the platform. His back as close as possible to the carriages covered by its shadows. It was the fifth he had seen his brother jump on to.

'Alain where are you? We need to hurry', he whispered.
His eyes were searching for the boy and the green crate. The carriage was full of crates and most of them were blue or yellow. He was pretty sure he heard Alain say 'green'. He was a great wind listener even if he only had heard half of their conversation he could have not missed it. Green... the colour of grass. He put a hand on his pocket, felt the knife. It was still there. It was a good thing he always took it with him. It had helped him several times in difficult situations, it had kept him alive.

As he heard his brother call him, Alain half-rose between the crates and waved at him, 'I am here. Over here, please come and help me.'

It didn't take much time to open the crate.
Those who closed it must have been thinking nobody would dare to open it. The boys just needed to push it a bit at it's side. As it was leaning at one of the other crates the bottom fell out and Courage stuck his head through the opening. He was clearly happy to get out.

'Just in time, I was getting out of air. Thanks for saving my life', he giggled.

'Hurry up Courage, we need to leave here as soon as possible!'
Alain grabbed the traveller its arms and pulled him outside. The brothers quickly put the crate back in its place. No one would found out it was empty and if..it wouldn't be long before the freight was unloaded.

'Who knows they will even think nothing was in it at all', Alain said. I wonder what is in the other crates.
