Peaceful Election

in #peace5 years ago

Well I'm not one to talk about election or delve into political conversations and that's not about to change. In Nigeria, what a presidential election represents isn't what it represents in your country. Days before the election, most schools will be closed, tension will be heightened and a lot of people decide to isolate themselves from the whole thing by moving to a secluded location temporarily.

Nigeria is divided into two, on one side is Nothern Nigeria. The have the highest population so "their guy" often wins. In this election, both leading aspirants are "their guy" so it gets complicated. The issue is, Nothern Nigeria has a reputation of violence, election violence to be precise. I currently reside at that part of the country and I can feel the tension. I school at an Institution ran by the Airforce, yet due to the level tension, an emergency holiday has been called for during the week that leads to the election, which is basically next week. On one side, I'm happy I get to have a break but on the other side, it sucks that we're still at this level of reasoning in the country. Its really sad.

I hope the election doesn't get marred by any act of violence, as well as rigging or any other vice. There are going to be a lot of young men and women handling the polling units and all, it'll be sad if anyone got hurt because of the ambition of a few men.

Stay safe, my friend! The ambitions of men and women the world over lead to gross atrocities and you are so right, it is very sad. I wish you and your country a peaceful election <3

Thanx love. It is really sad how people go crazy for these things. Something as simple as voting becomes a life and death battle.
