I suspect the best way to help someone avoid this trap would be to warn them well in advance, long before they get the first taste of hysteria, perhaps even as children.

Haha, this is exactly what you did, when you introduced me to steemit, and since then, it has gone up and down, and up and down, and so on, I've watched the hype from others during the lows, but not once, have i gotten caught up in it, from heeding your initial advice :)
