"Nap time" - Peoplephotography by worldcapture Week #4
Hello universe!
I was browsing my feed the other day because I was looking for photography contests. I saw @worldcapture's peoplephotography and got interested. Seeing the other entries and reading the stories behind those photos makes me want to share mine as well. There is nothing like being with people who share the same interests.
Aside from taking travel photos, portrait and street photography are my favorite too. Today, I will be sharing a photo of an old woman who was taking a nap during a busy market day here in our town.
This was taken couple of weeks ago, when we had our photowalk. I used my Canon 1100D with a Yongnuo 50mm f/1.8 lens, and photo was enhanced in Adobe Lightroom CC App.
The old woman caught my attention. Seeing her looking so tired, sleepy and despite her age, she is still there trying to work. She was selling "sundang" as we Waraynons call it. I tried to Google it, I couldn't find the exact English term. I think this is somewhat similar to Machete knives. Haha. I'm not sure. But to give you a clear picture of what a "sundang" is. Here is a photo below:
Don't worry these are not mainly use for fighting unlike before. Nowadays, these are utilized in the daily routine of Leyteños, especially those who work in the farm.
I stayed for few more minutes in this part of the market. The old woman woke up, looked around and smiled as she saw me holding a camera. I quickly took a shot and tried to capture her beautiful and friendly smile.
I approached the old woman to show her photo. She giggled like a kid when she saw it. That was one precious moment.
