The elimination of Petroleum

When these people talk about the elimination of petro (oil), do they have any idea the number of items that are produced from oil? The list is huge.
From medications to house paint, the elimination of this product which is a renewable (not a fossil fuel) would destroy life as we know it. But, I guess that is what they want.
