I once left a reply to @surpassinggoogle's post thanking him for giving ideas on how to promote Steemit. I told him that I was just wondering how I could possibly tell my family about this community without sounding like this is a scam or that it was a place where they can earn easy money. He replied to my comment and said "family is sometimes the hardest to convince but if you keep growing not just monetarily but in also substance, they will be impacted to join".

So anytime I felt any growth here in Steemit, I shared it with my siblings through our group chat. We only get to talk that way because we're all away from each other either because of work or our own small families. The first time I opened the topic about Steemit to all of them was when I was awarded a Notable Mention in the Culture Vulture Challenge by @eroche. I felt that even if I didn't get to be the winner of the challenge, I did pretty well against the other 400 and some entries. My elder sister who let me use her photos in the challenge has been introduced to Steemit beforehand and was very happy for me just like my 6 other siblings.

I achieved what I considered another milestone a few weeks later when I was able to participate in an outreach program that was organized here in the Steemit Platform. I had the most wonderful time in "a day of hugs" through Project Alinaga Arts & Music Therapy Day by @steemph in partnership with @flabbergast-art. And again, I told my siblings about it; my siblings have been to outreach programs in our hometown too and they were happy that I got to do it with my daughters here. My siblings and I had our share of difficulties when all eight of us were still attending school. Looking back, we realize how much we have now and we try our best to share our blessings.

A few days after that, I showed them the pair of jeans from my mom which I started to design with embroidery. They all thought I did a great job at it and were very happy I was able to find the time to do something I really loved. I recounted that journey in a blog I posted here. My brother apparently found this post in Steemit and shared my work in Facebook. Some of my friends saw it and they too shared it. Friends started commenting; some to congratulate me in finding my old passion for art and some to say that they were able to relate to me; they too had to put some of their dreams aside because of carreer or family. In the trail of comments, I was able to chat with the friends I designed coffins with and it was fun to know that they too remember those days when we were young and silly. I was very pleased that I got to talk with these people again.

My patner, @steemitph, also shared our experience here in Steemit in a post in facebook featuring my Steemit post, My Steemit Design: Steemit as a place where beautiful things could grow. It had less than a hundred views before it was shared in facebook; it now has 475. It's not that big of a number but I too got into the platform thanks to @jerrybanfield's promotion of Steemit in facebook and I'm hoping that I was able to at least spark the interest of my friends. I plan to write about my Steemit experience in facebook using yet another Steemit item I made myself. I truly believe that Steemit is a place where beautiful things can grow. It is not a perfect platform but in my opinion, it's the most condusive place in the internet for growing good things so my design still revolves in that concept. These are the photos of my progress while I was working on it.

I first started with the Steemit logo from where the colorful flowers will be "stemming"

then I sewed in the words "Let's grow beautiful things", I made sure the words will not interfere with the flowers by sewing some of the flowers ahead. They served as a guide as to where I should place the words

I then added more flowers to the design

God bless your beautiful family too sis! Lablab!

I love your embroidery!!! Is that by hand or with a machine? I embroider by hand and it is not fast! LOL

It's by hand so it took me some time. I also couldn't work on it everyday because of mommy duties so it took me more than a month.😊

Thank you for being my 500th follower! I followed back and look forward to seeing more of your adventures with Yuan. 🐱

Hey, that's still a good speed with that much detail! Awesome work! 😃

PS, hey, I'm your 500th follower! Hooray!

Great idea and good activities! Beautiful arts with Steemit logo on the bag! :)

So very nice of you, @tangmo. I'm glad you find my work beautiful. Thank you!

With my pleasure! ;)

It's great trying to promote steemit. Most people I talk to about it think it's a fraud and don't bother listen.
You're also very good at embroidering! I loved the bag! :D

I encountered those too and had real difficulty in explaining to them where the money of our upvotes came from (that was some 3 months ago when I was really new here in Steemit). I still have lots to learn but I know better now so hopefully I'd be able to promote Steemit more effectively.

I'm glad you like the bag. Thank you for dropping by and taking the time to leave your comment. 😊

Wow @dandalion :) That is beautiful. You can tell it was made with so much love. It's so heartwarming to see how supportive your whole family is. They sound as amazing as you are. Well done on spreading the word on Facebook!

Thank you, @bearone, for the kind words. I hope my family would get into Steemit; they have far more interesting lives than I. They also might learn to invest here. Haha!

Inspiring post!!! thank you!!

You deserve to have this badge...hehehe
