Few days ago, the Department of Health here in the Philippines has declared a Measles outbreak after a significant rise in the number of cases compared last year.

I personally believe that the low trust in vaccines can be attributed to the Dengvaxia scare. Sino ba naman ang hindi matatakot, kids dying is all over the news. Some people are taking advantage with the situation and using it for their political interests. Dengvaxia issue became sooooo huge, that it affected the people's confidence with the other vaccines, measles included.

Now, the number of Measles cases are continously rising, and there are reported deaths already. This is sad and a very tough time for the health care industry. I've read an article yesterday, about a certain hospital declining to admit more patients because its already beyond their capacity and accepting these patients into their facility would be more risky. The number of cases could rise, the next few weeks will be very critical.

And while our leaders and those in power are throwing stones and pointing fingers, the health care workers are now in the warzone.

The hospitals will have to take care of a huge number of admissions, even way more than their bed capacity. Some J.O. nurses will be obliged to go on 16 hours duty (in some cases, the 8 hours extension is not paid FYI). Some regular nurses will have to go on 12 hours shift, plus some few hours extension for the charting and paper works, a few hours to sleep and will go on another 12 hours shift again. It will be a series of toxic shifts, and gets paid at ₱14,000 per month. (Walang hustisya)

And oh by the way, thousands of nurses under the Nurse Deployment Project of the Department of Health has no job right now because of the huge cut in the proposed HR budget. The issue was reported to be resolved, and the nurses is set to be deployed in April. (Pero 3 months pa din silang walang trabaho, buti sana kung pwde silang hindi kumain for 3 months. Nakakaloka.)

I'd like to end this post with what we all learned from Spiderman, "With great power comes great responsibility". If you think you are incapable of holding any public office that would require you to make critical decisions that could affect thousands of people, please leave the post.

And for those people na naghuhugas kamay na with all these mess that happened during their watch, you clearly are irresponsible, incapable, ineffective, no balls motherf%ck*rs. =)
