Be uncomfortable, gain perspective
If you constantly surround yourself with people that only agree with you, you are destroying your opportunity to gain perspective. Perspective, is possibly one of the most valuable things we must acquire in order to learn to react to situations accordingly.
Unlike other people who talk about this subject, I like to emphasize on the fact that gaining that perspective is uncomfortable. Befriending or simply talking with people that disagree with you is something no one can really do without feeling conflicted.
If you've sat there and said to yourself that there is no need to talk to someone, because you know you are right, more often than not you've chosen wrong. Basically, a conversation, a discussion is nothing more than an attempt to gain perspective on a situation that people can't agree on.
Imagine anyone saying to you in a serious tone of voice. "I know everything, no need for me to learn more". You would think, and you would be correct that your friend has gone quite mad and has possibly become quite ignorant of how life works.
My message I guess is that, be uncomfortable sometimes, engage in dialogue, talk to those who see the world from a different lens. Be respectful, there is no need not to be, but I can guarantee that if you are open minded, and if you are willing to bare with the discomfort, you will walk away a little wiser.
Making a case for the benefits of gaining wisdom is something no one needs to do.
Very wise insight here. Perspective is everything, and to me very personally. As my father says, no one person can view all of the elephant at once. Further, one never will with one eye open or both eyes closed.
also, the people tending a distorsion about the opinions, because they cannot read about herself sometimes. Its so hard, when thoughts are closed in differents minds.
Interesting reflection. In fact, most people do not like to be contradicted. Knowing how to listen and understand another's point of view is wisdom and intelligence. I agree.
It is always good to know the opinions of other people, we will never know everything.
I like, when I paint, to show my work before to other artists to correct or show my faults, but many people do not see it well and think that I must sign it and without taking into account the thoughts of others.
In painting, I like to always feel like an apprentice.
That is why discussions have always existed, that is why discussions of conflicts arise because it is always good to have several perspectives or points of view on the same subject. It is healthy to listen to others having respect and tolerance as a premise.
Beware echo-chambers! If not communicating for the benefit of other perspectives, then why communicate at all..? I't caresses the ego to be confirmed in your opinions and believes, it grows the spirit to have them challenged.

Learning to do this without arguing is also a blessing. However, being around people who don’t agree with you takes a lot of courage too
yes, no doubt... but between adults, respect should always be part of the conversation.
When I was a teenager in my worst judgmental phase, I asked my dad why he was always buying the shit gossip papers along with the decent ones. (yes, that was back in the days when we somehow believed we had access to genuine objective information in the press). He replied that it was very important to keep in touch with what most people read, because otherwise you cut yourself from the way most people think and you get too settled/comfortable in your own perceptions.

Yeah even if you know you're right, everyone has a other approach on life. It is good to have another glance on the a situation, to learn how other personality react towards certain situations!
This is very much important in our lives as we can't do it all to rise to the top. I really agree with you @chbartist. Though not everybody has the right to speak into our lives or change our dreams but looking into others perspective doesn't only make us reflect on what we've planned to do as it may help in modifying, but I thinks it makes us humble when we take our time to listen to others.
