Hello, my name is João and I am a brain. And so are you.

When did you first realized you are just a brain?

That everything else in your body only exists to maintain your brain(you)? Your muscles, your skeleton, your organs - all of it has the sole purpose of keeping your ability to think. Like our shell. It's about time we start thinking of ourselves as grey matter that weighs 1,5kg. Not through colors, weight or height, nor race - just a small grey matter with a consciousness attached.

I was 12 when i first thought of this.

All of the decisions made in the entirety of humanity’s history and all of the emotions and feelings experimented were just functions of our physical brains - not the heart and not spiritual - just neural chemistry.

This is what is called neuroexistentialism. I think there is some serious unnerving feature about it - although I can't exactly explain why. Is there any reason for a brain to know about itself? We still don’t have satisfying neural explanations for a lot of higher functions, including consciousness.

The mere thought that we, as a conscious entity, are our biological shell is still so primitive - in 300 years from now, mankind will look at us with such disdain. By then they will walk (will we be able to levitate by then?) around, with new concepts of sexuality, happiness and purpose.!

We are more closely related to neanderthals than they will be related to us. And that's a good thing.
