RE: Ignoring advice when we need it

in #philosophy6 years ago

Very tricky situation to be in. If one has demostrated a trend of being right, they will tend to get overconfident and will not see that they could be wrong listen to someone's advice. And even more difficult when one's assessment of risks involved in a task are underestimated. They.will ignore any facts because they would have aleady considered the risks and not listen to the advice being given to them..

Now if the person is already underconfident, or indecisive, they will always seek advice and not be able to tell good advice from bad.

I think what you have talked about is very tricky state of mind to be in.. it requires separating emotions from decision making. But even then someone may advice you to be passionate. What does one do then?

Sort:

Indeed. Dunning-Kruger effect ;) Be passionate at times, and be reasoning to evaluate and keep a check on the passion and feelings not overriding decision making.

Absolutely. And i will look into that - dunning kruger effect.
