Dare to be a MAN not coward

The life we are living in is a battlefield and each day is a battle to be won. It will interest to know that, several ships sail through the ocean of each struggle, challenges and battle each time but only few comes back as a Victor. While, some battles are better described as No Victory, No Vanquished; some are even a show of shame and disgrace as the victim is consumed by the challenges of life.

In an ancient Yoruba Kingdom, to be precise the old Oyo Empire (the present day Oyo State); there exist a convention which is known and placed on a particular role among the Oyo Empire title holders which is called "Aare Ona Kankanfo" - the head of the military. It is a sacrilege for any person or individual who sits on the seat of an "Aare Ona Kankanfo" to wage a war or vice-versa and be defeated at war, it is a TABOO, less he should be wiped by the war.
What about the mighty and the valiant warrior of Ijaiye town called "Are Kurunmi" fought and died in a battle between the Ibadans and his town. Back then, bravery wasn't sacres like now...

As far back as 60's during the medieval period, grown ass men were deem to be brave, warriors, that is while the birth of a male child then strikes the entire space and galaxy because they know an heir to the throne (not necessarily a royal family) as being born. But it is quite unfortunate that, this era and millennia that we are now things have really changed from what its ought to be to what ought not to be. Don't get me wrong!

Here is my POV, we learnt from our founding fathers whom I would like not to refer to as fore. Their perceptions about life is totally different, they are brave, courageous, men of valour, ambitious and never giving up (persistent spirit) individuals. That doesn't mean or translate to the fact that present age does not have the above qualities too, just that we ain't taking the bull by its horn.

When they (the new blood) start a new year they say it is a time to start reviewing resolutions, well I am not a party to that school of thought. A resolution you didn't review while in the quarter of the year, the year as gotten to half point but here you are; deviated from your original plan(s) and at the eve of the year; you picked that rubbish from the trashcan you emptied it few hours, months ago and you except to achieve success or build an empire with that?

People do not achieve and break through just by making goals, or prepare a table of ledger in their head, same way a farmer cannot feed a nation without making heaps and tilling the ground. No wonder, in Genesis (the first book of the bible) "it is written that from your sweat and toiling you shall reap" Men of nowadays are too fearful to face challenges including the author of these write-up, we flew at the sound of tribulation. This is a charge to all, a Yoruba adage goes thus; e ni eja o daba, loun pe re lokurin which translates as - “Until you are faced with challenges and difficulties, DON'T SAY YOU ARE A MAN...”

A word they say is enough for a wise, ponder on this and make sure you understand it.
