The questions we dont ask

in #philosophy5 years ago

I was reminded of this story today and thought it would be a good idea to try to tell the story in a video. I'm sure there are plenty of versions out there, don't know which one is the original one, but maybe that detail is not as important.

I love that! I know the story about the meatloaf with the ends cut off.
"My mum did it that way, so that's how I do it."
And so on... until we go back far enough and find out that the great great grandmother's meatloaf tin was just a bit too small and so she cut the ends off to make it fit.

i love this one... with meatloaf its actually funnier!

i think that maybe some people dont understand that they might have been taught not to question things, and are in essence, lying down. whereas I was the one who - when i first got a car and wanted a bumper sticker - I chose "Question Reality".

It's really quite simple. be sherlock holmes. don't take things for granted. certain people tend to get annoyed at me for asking or questioning things, and ask me why I make a big deal about little things. but if you let all the little things go, when it comes to the one little thing that will really impact your life, you might not realize how big it really is.

my favorite little parable, by Martin Niemöller : (short version)

First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a socialist.

Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a trade unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

I watched the video and your comment probably explain simple summary.

Happy weekend:)

This is the greatest behavior to advance your career these days as many managers in the corporate world have done what was always told before many of the technological advancements available today. Just by questioning processes can provide huge value for organizations as efficiencies can be gained. Now imagine in a couple of years when blockchain technology is matured and what it can do for society? Great anecdote!

My boss learned to question everything, so he is always improving. I'm so glad he taught me early on. I resonate with this a lot because I live in a small town, where no one likes to change things, even if they are for the better.

This story reminds me of religion ! Kids (especially in developing countries) are raised to believe in the same religion as their parents and they don't get to question their beliefs (Saying this from a personal experience).

hands down... this is precisely what happens.

That is a good story. Never always know the full story until you ask.
