We know so little about consciousness that it's extremely reckless to set about to alter it. There is no worse slavery than that is all in the mind. Pretty sure that chips aren't the best option for altering brains, and CRISPR probably is.

Agreed, I sometimes wonder if we find ourselves in this "time" in an effort to alter humanity from pursuing a path of enslavement. It's not hard to see that the governments and corporations want docile and well groomed slaves to perpetuate their greed engines. Perhaps Satoshi was either a time traveler or had foresight akin to that of Orwell. Either way, here we all are and where we go from here will dictate the world to come.
