[Phishing] Can the Emmys be Hacked?

in #phishing6 years ago (edited)

The above is a video recently uploaded to YouTube by Canadian comedian Nathan Fielder, the star and creator of hit Comedy Central series Nathan For You. In it, Nathan talks about potential security vulnerabilities in the Emmy voting system with election security expert Carsten Schürmann, and it is a great example of how a phishing attack works. Carsten goes through what steps a hacker would have to take in order to target victims and steal their credentials for voting in the Emmy awards, however this is the same process that phishers on Steemit or any other platform use.

If you would like to read more about Phishing, I've already posted an article which you can read here. Remember to always keep your passwords safe, and be suspicious of all communications you receive, especially the URL of the site you're being sent to.

What did you think of the video? I'm a massive fan of Nathan's particular brand of comedy, and it works really well to get this genuinely useful information out there. By educating and helping each other, and knowing how these attacks are carried out, we can better protect ourselves online from attackers. Let me know your thoughts down in the comment section, or if you have any questions on this topic feel free to ask and I'll do my best to help. Good stuff, thanks! :)
Luckily Steemit itself seems quite secure. I recently wrote some articles about it:
