Monument to lovers -1 wonder
Seven wonders of Kharkov are seven historical and cultural monuments that were chosen at the contest "Seven Wonders of Kharkov" in July 2008.
- Pokrovsky Cathedral of the Kharkov Pokrovsky Monastery
On the territory of the monastery are several buildings: the Intercession Cathedral, the Church of the Mother of God of Ozeryansk, the Kharkov Archbishop's residence and the theological seminary. It was founded by Cossacks who built it in 1689 as part of fortifications. In the 18th century, Pokrovsky Cathedral rooms were used for students of Kharkov College, where in 1759-1764 the outstanding Ukrainian teacher, poet and philosopher Grigory Skovoroda taught. Now the Intercession Cathedral is the oldest stone monument of architecture of national importance in Kharkov.
