RUBGY - COMMERCIAL PHOTOSHOOT w/photo tips

in #photofeed6 years ago

Showing off a whole set of pictures from an entire shoot should pretty educational for an aspiring photographer. I'll try to add some commentary that is also educational as well.

I shared these back when I did the shoot... the reason this one was one of my top pictures is because his look and the lighting really worked for the type of usage they'd be using with their website and training material... also it said RUGBY on the ball

Here's a picture from earlier in the photoshoot... pictures that would help fit more of the training aspect of the company

ACTION SHOTS

These shots are just to have a good variety so that they could use them on social media. Also took a bunch because I don't know what kinds of actions are the most intriguing to a Rugby player... here's a secret. I've never played rugby. haha

OUTFIT CHANGE

Different outfits also help the client to have more content that doesn't seem to repititious.
Also in a fitness workout program they also needed shots that would show the before and after.
Just so you know this is supposedly the BEFORE shots... meaning he was a little self-concious. Which is crazy to the less muscular of us in the audience. haha

MOTION SHOTS

I then tried out some more challenging shots where the ball would be in motion but not him. So we did these shots over and over and I got a few that worked out ok. One of the challenges was that it was just the two of us... otherwise having someone off screen to throw or retrieve would have made it easier.

DIVERSITY

I think the name of the game in general for a client who is still trying to figure out what their content strategy is going to be is to just give a bunch of looks and then for the next photoshoot just see what they ended up using the pictures for and which ones played the best.

Maybe they find out that happy shots are better than intense

Or maybe the more intense the better

RECAP

as you can see we got really really lucky with the INTENSE clouds that evening. In the previous post i think i already talked about how I ended up using a tree to wedge my flash in and having a second person would have made everything easier but I made due and i think rocked it.

In any case hope you enjoyed a few thoughts from a photographer about a photoshoot.
Let me know if you want more posts like this.

Also tell me which shot you like the best, i've numbered them,... and or which one you think would be most useable by a company called "Rugby Nation"
