My PhotoVisions #37 - "Industrialz" - Shipyard in Gdynia (big gallery)
Hello Dear Friends!
If You like industrial/urban subject in photography, If You like really big ships and huge machines - this gallery is made for You!
A big collection of shots taken recently from a ferry to Norway. Ferry harbor is on the end of the shipyard in Gdynia, before reaching the open sea, the boat is swimming across the whole indutrial area of this gigantic shipyard.
High cranes, powerful lifts, big transport ships in repair...
Large container ship by the harbor storage area
And the labirynth of containers...
Large ships waiting in the wet and dry docks...
Big concrete buildings on the harbor, some of them partly abandoned, the best times of this sea port has passed many years ago but still, a lot things going on there...
Some smaller ships also have their place in a shipyard, sea transport is still one of the cheapest way to transport goods.
Big rollers of metal plates waiting to be placed on a ship's body...
At the end of the shipyard is a storage area, when coal and other minerals are held and used later in power plants and ironworks. Coal is still one of the biggest source of energy and heat in Poland.
Now I finally know, where the museum of emigration is ;)
At the end of the sea harbor - breakwater walls with the lighthouse at the entrance...
This was really express photo-travel through the sea port in Gdynia - amazing place in my taste - what You cannot sea and feel here are the sounds of distant work, the noise of the cranes, machines and people, the smell of burning metal and rubber... it adds a lot to an atmosphere of the place. Industrial stuff is great! What do You think??
