Norwegian landscapes: Quartz mountain (4 photos)

in #photofeed6 years ago

Good evening Guys!

Quartz mountain is not a real name of the place of course, but as You can see, it fits perfectly there... What is that place? One of few flat tops in area of Nordgruvefeltet - mining grounds where a lot of copper and pyrite mines are located - now all of them closed, destroyed or simply dissapeared, but the history of that place adds a lot to moodiness of the landscapes and atmosphere of the whole location.

I was hiking through that mountains until midnight, these photos have been made around 23:30. The atmosphere of that night was unique and hard to describe.

Just imagine You are totally alone there - nearest village is around 6-8 km from the place, no cars on parking place was the information, that nobody else decided to spend the night there. Big open spaces around You, just the sounds of distant birds, wind blowing between the rocks, slowly moving colorful clouds, beautiful pinky orange sky on the north-west side of the sky... My imagination was really active that time - I hate it!
Sometimes I imagine situations when I see something unreal, something hard to explain, like distant silhouettes of strange creatures, strange lights on the sky, unidentified sounds from unknown directions... I know, it is stupid, childish stuff... but what can I do? It is my imagination and sometimes I cannot mute it...

The Quartz mountain - as I said - flat top with few huge pieces of quartz... They look totally different then all other tops, who put there such a big pieces of minerals? Is it natural location or it was transported there in times when all the mines was working there? What was the purpose of such thing? Many questions without answers... I liked the place - it was unreal like all the night I spend there...
