The Siberian chipmunk or common chipmunk (Eutamias sibiricus)

Have you ever seen a pair of chipmunks? So I did not see either. The fact is that these cute animals are individualists. They live alone, and only during the breeding season are looking for a mate and give birth to offspring.
You've probably heard the phrase or proverb "The cat that walked by himself"? That same thing can be said about the chipmunk.

But even despite such an introverted lifestyle, their burrows may be close to each other, that is, next to other chipmunks. And this is very strange. After all, they are very jealous of violations of their territories and comfort zones.
They rarely go far from their homes, so if you see a chipmunk, it means that somewhere between 200 and 500 meters the hole is located.
As for this photo, This is the continuation of a long-standing story, when the wryneck chased the chipmunk away from her nest. He was forced to retreat, and climbed on another tree nearby. Where he continued to gnaw the bark of birch to drink birch sap.
