An Adelie penguin watching over its egg.
Early December on the Antarctic peninsula means that at every penguin breeding colony you go to there is a very good chance that majority of the penguins will be nesting on eggs. With this species of penguin - Adelie, they will lay two eggs between October and November and usually come mid-december the chicks will have hatched and looking very cute.

It’s the father that sit on the eggs....
Penguins are very smart creatures especially the Emperor Penguins. I also admire how they take care of their youngs from the time the mother Penguin lay her eggs, the father Penguin takes her place to keep the eggs warm until they hatch, while the mother Penguin is away looking for food. Penguins have their own unique voice of calling their youngs too, so they won't get lost :-)
