In our lands rich forests, rapid waters, high mountains, and the village coloring under its mantle these lands. Looking carefully we discovered an impressive karst landscape in the Valcan Mountains. It is called the Sohodol Gorge and is part of the Retezet-Godeanu massifs and extends 12 kilometers away, between Runcu and Glade's Account.
The waters of the Sohodol brook dug here, in Cretaceous limestone, and formed the Keys, which gave them various forms of canyons, avenues, caves, steep slopes, valleys.
The Sohorod Gorge, from the Southern Carpathians, attracts many tourists every year, both form the country and abroad. The stone ring, Popii Cave, Narile, Fusteica, Garla Vacii Cave are the most important attractions of this area. The most impressive and visited is Cave Popies. An important point on the tourist map, thanks to the paintings found here, which are anthropomorphic silhouettes, colored in black.
If you want to get to the keys, you can go to DN67D, which connects Targu Jiu to Baia de Arama. Along the keys, access can be done by bicycle or on a walk. Careful! The entrance fee to enter with the car in keys is 10 lei.
