RE: A7-iii mania

in #photography6 years ago

At first i had Nikon D3s , for many years, amazing light low performance since it is just 12Mpx FF sensor. Then hard times came and i had to sell all my gear. Scrambled for Sony A6300 since i could not life without taking pictures anymore. Then thanks to all steemian upvotes i decided to go for A7RII and for the price difference from A7RIII get myself a nifty Zeis 55m 1.8 lens, the sharpest glass i have owned so far.

I can not elaborate on Shadow recovery of A7RIII being an owner of A7RII having in mind some people are saying that mark II is even better at it then Mark III. To be truly honest i was blown away by it's ability to pulldetail from the shadows. Then again, being stuck with old Nikon D3s Sony A7RII was a major upgrade sensor vise to me nor cab i compare it to K50.

I am not a tech guy, and i try to shoot in a way that i do not need to pull out too much, anyway. But then the hightlights, which again Sony A7RII handles so well that i was really impressed. So i guess it is all situational, since going to the extremes of pulling from the shadows fucks up the color tones etc.

Other than that i tend to travel a lot recently, and small lightweight body is really useful for this. To be honest i am really impressed with it, genuinely. But again, i have not tried many of the alternatives, maybe they are all just as good, i can not tell.

Verdict? I am very pleased and it meet almost all of my current needs :)

The K50 uses the same sensor that's in K5 and Nikon D7000. It's a 16mp apsc Sony sensor :P
At the time of it's release it had the best dynamic ranger available. So maybe that's why I'm not impressed, because I've been using an old but great Sony sensor. And my camera has IBIS too :P
But it does show it's age. High ISO noise is pretty bad and the AF is from the stone age :D
