Art has always been rebellious. Art has always been subdued; for art is the ultimate form of freedom.
If the same paintings were to be on a canvas hung in a painting gallery they would be praised oh so high! But since they are painted on seemingly nothingness, the meaning and depth is easily overseen.
For instance, Graffiti is a form of art that still is rebellious and undermined; but it carries along the pure essence of "ART"

I fully agree with you. But at least in Europe, that seems to be changing. Street Art is getting more valued now.

A few years ago, artists were persecuted by the authorities. Not anymore.

I second you, sir! I have noticed first hand how street "vandals" are now the first choice for many people. Graffiti inspired arts are on the sides of tall buildings and on the inner walls of many schools. It has begun to being appreciated as an increment to the freedom and identification of an individual's distinctiveness.
