Fun with Finches
It took a few days, but The Goldfinches are BACK!
A young American Goldfinch, his color, just coming in, Truro, Cape Cod
Here he is, in the trees, waiting for his turn at one of my bird feeders. The Thistle and the Safflower seeds seem to call him. Or, some of the other Finches, at the feeders, with their song, call him! Not sure which.
Yesterday, it was a dozen Goldfinches, a pair of Titmouse, A Catbird, two Eastern Towhee, and a bunch of Doves... as well as Black-Capped Chickadees. Singing their song, of Cape Cod. Chicadee-dee-dee-dee-dee
Here, an older male, landing at the Feeder!
A young Male, top, right. Behind, left, another male. In front, middle, a younger female. Note, as in most of the wild world, Males put on the color, and the females are less colorful. Helps to hide the nest.
To the animals and birds around me
to put more plants in than I take out
And be a good steward for the world around me!

On that branch, to the right, is about a dozen, some are waiting for this feeder, some for the trays, below
