Peterhof is not only a city of fountains, but also a city of parks, it's a pleasure to walk around. Many of them do not have an ideal landscape design, but rather resemble forests with alleys laid in them: these are the so-called landscape parks. In addition to the famous Upper Garden and the Lower Park, which are part of the Peterhof ensemble, Alexandria Park, located next door, is obligatory.

Acquaintance with the fountains of Peterhof begins with the Upper Garden. At the main entrance visitors are greeted by the fountain "Mezhumny" - a round pool with dolphins and a sea monster. Among the fountains of the Lower Park is the most famous - Samson, located in the center of the Grand Cascade. 3 waterfall ladders, 64 fountains, 255 sculptures and bas-reliefs on antique themes - this is the largest fountain construction in the world and the visiting card of Peterhof.

The climate in Peterhof, as well as in St. Petersburg, is not too mild and affable. High humidity, gusty wind and cloudiness - the usual weather phenomena for these places. Due to the proximity of the Gulf of Finland the weather is very changeable and can change several times a day.

White nights are a decoration of Peterhof. Officially, they last from June 11 to July 2.

The Great Peterhof Palace has long been a center of social life. Here were celebrations, receptions, balls and masquerades, which were invited to three thousand guests. In the court church, they marryed, baptized children and prayed to commemorate military victories. 

Visitors will enjoy a fascinating journey through the magical palace filled with arts and crafts, magnificent furniture and excellent works of sculpture and painting. Alexandria is the residence of the last Russian emperors, surrounded by a two-level seaside landscape park. The complex is distinguished by a peculiar style - in the design of pavilions, sculptures and arbors used elements of Gothic architecture. The Cottage, the Farm Palace and the Gothic Chapel are indispensable for visiting.

In 2005 Peterhof celebrated its 300th anniversary. The world value of Petrodvorets is confirmed by the inclusion in 1990 of the palace and park ensemble in the list of cultural heritage of UNESCO.
