According to its history, In 1929 Perkoatan Perkoempoelan Perempuan Indonesia (PPPI) was renamed Perikatan Perkoempoelan Istri Indonesia (PPII). In 1935 the Indonesian Women's Congress II was held in Jakarta. The congress, in addition to successfully establishing the Indonesian Women's Congress Board, also sets the main function of Indonesian Women as the Mother of Nations, which is obliged to cultivate and educate the new generation that is more aware and thicker its nationalism.
. In 1938 the Indonesian Women's Congress III in Bandung declared that December 22 as Mother's Day. Subsequently, confirmed by the Government by Presidential Decree No. 316/1999 on National Holidays not Dated December 16, 1959, which stipulates that Mother's Day of December 22 is a national day and not a holiday. Year 1946 This agency became the Indonesian Women's Congress abbreviated KOWANI, which until now continue to work according to the aspirations and demands of the times. The big event that happened on December 22 was then made a milestone for Indonesian Women Movement Unity.
