Willow thickets

in #photography5 years ago

Willow is probably the most common tree in Russia and I can definitely say that this is my most unloved tree. I do not like willow because it is like a weed plant, cluttering up any landscape. Basically, these are floodplain meadows and river banks. This tree grows with great speed and turns the territory into impassable jungle.

Many people confuse willows with shrubs, but this is a full-fledged tree that can grow to huge sizes. Although at a young age, it still looks more like a bush.

Many years ago these places were ordinary meadows, and now everything is overgrown with willow trees.

In my yard as a child, there were also willow bushes near the marsh - it was the best place to play! We made vits of willows, bows with arrows, built huts from branches. We even tried to feast on the sweet mushy contents that were under the bark. And the bark itself could tie up anything, and the strength was no worse than a rope.

And now willow is everywhere... and soon she will take over the world.

I do not know how to beautifully take pictures of young willow bushes. They are always formless and dirty.

The only thing that attracts me to this tree is the smell of smoke from burning dry branches. I specifically throw a couple of willow twigs in any fire, if they are nearby. The smoke is very fragrant.

Perhaps somewhere there is a beautiful weeping willow, which bent its branches over a picturesque pond. And so, it can be interesting only when it grows to large sizes. Willow in the form of a bush is like a weed. In our area the beautiful willow - a rarity.
