Flower protection

This plant is like a quintessence of spring for me here. Every year in very early spring (late winter almost) it starts to bloom. It is not very wanted one, so people do cut it down closer to houses. But it will grow everywhere else in the wild where the plant are let grow freely. Not fussy about soil, or water.
And in spring it turns the place to a yellow bush field.

Besides that it is quite cute and edible it is a mean mean plant! See those thorns? Yep - they are as mean as they look. Sharp and millions of them protecting the flowers. Bees don't minds. At least that.
