Ah, I miss mushroom hunting and also collecting wild asparagus. I lived in Ronda and Los Barrios (Cádiz) and the asparagus would pop up wild all over the landscape in the spring. Also, the madroños. I can't get madroños here!

I used to collect the wild asparagus but did find it quite bitter.... is there a trick to picking sweeter spears?
Most people pick it when they are a little small, yet. The more they grow, the more bitter they seem to be.
