Appreciate you stopping by to have a look. You have a great day as well!

I should clarify that ultimately I do not think all drugs should be generalized into the same destructive category. I'm particularly critical of pharmaceutical "wonder drugs" that are prescribed for a multitude of "disorders". Many of which I believe to not be disorders at all and are actually our minds warning us of potential external but no-so-direct threats.

Generalizing just leads to distrust and unnecessary self discovery (ie. using drugs like methamphetamine and heroin)

Many people, including myself, benefit tremendously 'in terms of understanding and awareness' from the use of psychedelics such as Psilocybe cubensis. However mushrooms differ tremendously from modern pharmaceuticals in that they amplify awareness rather than inhibit it. Not for everybody.

That said there are obviously going to be exceptions and cases where certain drugs are the only option. I just think we are over medicating though with xanax, opiates, amphetamines and other drugs that make mind numbing tasks a bit less mind numbing yet ultimately lead us to an early psychological grave.

There are people who are homeless and drugs had nothing to do with it. Injuries, illness, and false accusations will do it.

It is really easy to say they deserve these problems and do nothing, isn't it? Blame it on drugs. With that logic it is drugs that caused you to not have compassion. So you also have a problem, which is worse.

I think you may be misinterpreting what "I" am actually saying. The whole excerpt on drugs was more of a monologue on why I think parts of society are collapsing without people even batting an eye. Nobody wants to ask for help and most people think if you aren't working as hard as them you aren't worthy of a place at the table. (metaphorically speaking) And certain drugs can and do make life easier for the time being... but ultimately they also raise the bar for everyone not on those drugs dealing with the same mental stresses "organically".

I don't think it's very easy at all to say people deserve these problems. I'm an ex drug addict myself. I have seen and experienced first hand "drugs cause people to not have compassion" because ultimately at the end of the day they make you suicidal and you're only worried about your next fix. Not to say I didn't still have a kind heart but I couldn't help myself so how was I going to help someone else?

The quote was from my own personal experience being homeless and on drugs. I'm not trying to diminish or take away from anyone else's struggles. Saying someone can't be sad because other people may have it worse is like saying someone can't be happy because someone else may have it better.
