Skutustadagigar Craters On Iceland.
This was a hard day on Iceland. We had to cover 700 kilometers of roads on that day, this means that there is not much time for anything else than driving. I sacrificed this day because I wanted the next day to have more hiking and more time to do stuff. Even though we had very little time, I managed to quickly visit some of the places on the way. These are Skutustadagigar Craters on northern Iceland.
We went there first thing in the morning. It is located on Krafla volcanic area, on the shore of Lake Myvatn ( look for @steemitworldmap comment for exact location). This is a relatively small area so it didn't take much time to hike through the place. Basically, there are tens of small craters scattered around the area. About 2000 years ago when lava flowed in this swamped place and there was much steam action going on so these craters are created by steam explosions at the time.
Some people even say that they are not real craters because they are not created by lava explosion... Let it be mentioned that I don't agree with this statement. Whatever explosion there was, its still a crater! Now some photos of the area.
I agree this may be called a crater;)
Nice :D
