Reading is Fundamental

I love to read. I read for entertainment, for relaxation, for information and for education. Electronic books are taking over because they are so easily accessible on a Kindle, or your cell phone, lap top or other electronic device. The challenge with that for me is that sometimes, I just want to unplug. I love the flexibility of ebooks for sure, it's just that sometimes I want to turn the pages of a real book and be able to take it with me anywhere without worrying about my "battery" running low as I read.

My current reading list

There are many ways to educate yourself in addition to reading books. There are millions of YouTube videos online that will teach, illustrate and share anything in the world that you want to learn. I have benefited myself from videos on knitting, home improvement, and art. I love to watch a video on something that I need information about, but my preference is still to pick up a book if I can find one.

I realize that the challenge of constantly buying paper books among other things is space and limited paper resources. I always try to buy used books. I have found that some people give away books to thrift stores that they have already read or did not want to read that they may have received as a gift.

I have so many books that I once gave one of my sisters enough cookbooks to fill the back of an SUV. The secret is to pass the books around after you have read them so that other may enjoy the information.

You can't easily do that with an electronic book. Enjoy your day. I've got to get back to my book. 😊
