African Wednesday: City Walls of Taroudant, Morocco

Despite its location close to the tourist resort town Agadir, Taroudant does not receive many visitors. Even though I had only planned to stay in Taroudant for a night on my way to Essaouira, I liked the atmosphere of this town so much that I ended up staying another day. There is not a single hostel in Taroudant, but I got a small room in a basic hotel with a rooftop terrace overlooking the central square for only 50 Dirhams (4.40€) a night. The town is framed by the beautiful city walls that you can see in the photo below and is home to a wide range of different markets.
