Palm Dates In An Andalucian Costa
Pheonix dactylifera is commonly known as date palm, a flowering plant or tree that loves the desert- like environment and bears its fruits in clusters...the fruits become brown when they are ripe. It is widely cultivated in the Middle East, India, Canary Islands as well as North Africa and in California.
One tree could produce around 300 pounds per year which can be harvested all throughout the year. The trick of the farmers is to place the date clusters in a fabric bag to prevent ripe ones from falling down as well as to prevent the birds from picking the fruits.
Date palms are often planted along the coast particularly fronting the beaches for ornamental purposes because they give the tourists that tropical flare. Here in Andalucia, there are many matured trees and sometimes nobody gets the fruits so the birds have a fiesta because there are just plenty to pick from the images of trees in this post.

Not sure I have ever seen Palm Dates growing, they are so cool and colorful
Yes they are lovely to see when they start to grow from green , yellow, orange abd tgen brown when they become ripe and the fruit is so sweet. Thanks for being here...
