An Autumn day and many colors!

Early morning and the sky is a whiter shade of pale!

Today I bring you many Autumn colors and it is also one of my favorite seasons. The sun's searing heat is toning down and the days are crisp and cool. Of course Winter is knocking on the door, but our winters are very short with no snow and only a week or two with very cold conditions. July is reckoned as South Africa's coldest month, although lately with the strange weather patterns anything can change. Some places that have hardly ever had rain are now flooded and there is drought in places that are accustomed to good rains every year.
Let me show you some colors!

The trees are slowly undressing while the squirrels their winter stock of nuts assessing. Flowers cling desperately to their colors in an effort to last as long as possible, before the fading strength of the sun and the cooling temperatures force them to surrender. The butterflies had an intense summer and it shows in their torn and faded clothing.
The welcoming summer shade is slowly transforming into fridges, as the sun is moving towards its winter lane.
Fireplaces and chimneys are being cleaned and wood stocks are being counted.
This is Autumn.

This is Autumn and it also brings with it a mental damper in preparation for the winter, as everyone seems to be a bit slower in their actions. Gardeners are planting the winter bulb flowers at a slow rate and the ladies are removing the winter clothes from their trunks. Farmers check the insolation of their sheds and start to apply winter feed to the fruit trees. A change in dining will revert to soups and stews, and stocks are replenished. Some folks would even prepare the winter family board games to prepare for long cold nights.
This is Autumn!

Autumn is indeed the harbinger of Winter and the animals' fur coats are changing to paler colors, which are also thickening. The birds are also undergoing a transformation in that most of the males lose their mating colors, leaving a mass of lookalikes. The Spring babies have grown enough to face their first winter and all of those that were found to be too weak to endure were sifted out by predators. So Autumn is known as a time for preparation and as the ripened colors warn the animals, just so they are a signal to mankind to prepare for the coming cold.
I love Autumn!
