Some unusual pictures from the apple valley!

A Malachite Sunbird couple mating on a rainy day in the late afternoon!

To see them mating is very scarce and I am so sad that the light was bad. Of course it is not an easy shot to start off with, as these birds have to be totally sure that their surroundings are safe before they would mate. Hopefully I will get clearer shots of them when the weather improves.

Look, I even got his approach but I only took the two shots due to bad light!

Right, now let's change the subject from procreation.

The Malachite's colors are a natural camouflage, as they blend in perfectly with shrubs and trees.

Here we have the great African Darter sunning himself after a swim!

I can't find any information on this cute baby predator, but we will wait for him to mature first!

Another first for me, as here is a group of Blue Swallows waiting to watch a great sunset!

The stormy days always deliver the best sunsets!

In closing here, all that I want to say is that in our first winter here, we are learning how to cope with the wet and cold weather here, but being an outdoors person helps me a lot. Of course the rehabilitation presents a problem, but I am taking things very slowly.

Note: We made our first Papillon donation of 600 Adult Diapers to a local home for cerebral palsied persons today. The place is called Agape. Two old age homes will be given Adult nappies for their frail care sections on Monday and the plan is to assist 15 small places with diaper stock that will last them for a year or more!
