On a completely unconnected topic, if you are planning on withdrawing cash from ATMs whilst on holiday never allow them to do the conversion for you, always complete the transaction in €uro.

I have withdrawn €280 twice now, on different islands, and both times their conversion rate would have cost me £265.50, but on both occasions allowing my bank to convert has cost me just £245.25.
