As you may have occasionally seen on these pages, sometimes I like to play with photo editing software and experiment with what you can do with just an ordinary photograph... in terms of turning it into art. 

Or at least something that resembles art. Here's today's candidate: A relatively ordinary macro shot of some red salvia that's growing in one of the medians, near town.

And here's the same thing, after it has been run through a number of color alterations, and finally a "Van Gogh" filter... at which point it pretty much loses most resemblance to a photograph:

And this is what you can turn it into!

Not claiming to have created "art" here; mostly showing this for illustration purposes... there is a LOT we can do with computer technology, these days. The most important thing is to simply be open to making changes to the original that are not bound by any ideas of whether or not it looks "natural." 

Now whether or not it looks "pretty" is a whole other matter!
