Forgotten Soccer Ball Pinhole Photography

in #photography6 years ago (edited)

To commemorate the finals of 2018 World Cup in Russia, here is a photo of a soccer ball left on the beach at Carmel River Beach made with a film pinhole camera.

A pinhole camera does not have any lens, just a tiny hole made on my modified Holga camera. In pinhole photography, there is no focusing, no light metering, and no looking through a viewfinder. Exposure is determined by trial and error. The image projected on the back of the camera is inverted, which is known as camera obscura effect.

Images made with a pinhole camera are usually fuzzy, grainy, and have an almost infinite depth of field due to the lack of lens. Details from the present day are erased making images look like made in the past. I positioned the camera at ground level for a "crab's eye" point of view.
