Tibetan Gold and Money part 1

Tibet is a country filled with much culture and religion is a deep foundation of its history and society. As I toured the beautiful lands that reached up to the sky, I came to realise how grand and exquisite some of the temples within Tibet were. Many of the temples and monasteries featured shining golden gates and roofs. When I glanced over in the distance, I was in awe as the golden buildings radiated with brilliance under the sun. Tibet is a modest country that practices Buddhism with great devotion and it was clear that much care and attention had gone in to constructing these spaces of worship.

This spurred my interest into understanding some of the country’s economy and commodities. China has had a fair amount of gold mining in its history and this has also been observed in Tibet. In particular, the Maizhokunggar County in Lhasa has had a significant impact on the economy of the country. As time has progressed, Tibet has seen many industries but this part of the country would see much interest regarding gold resources.
