Perhaps this was a sign of respect in these places of worship. I decided to research into the architecture a little more and I discovered that many of the material choices were chosen for efficiency. Construction brilliance had excelled throughout Tibet and even the walls were angled to support structure susceptible to earthquakes. Every building had been designed with the common environment in mind and I got to understand the Tibetan way of building a little more. Much planning and thought had gone into every structure, whether it was a simple resident home or a grand temple.

I admired the attention to detail and grand décor that much of the temples featured. Whether it was golden layered pieces or elegant silk decorations, there was always something grand and attractive to look forward to. Much of these decorations are not from commercial incentives. In fact, much of the decorations, construction and renovation are funded by donations from the locals. It really shows how much religion is a foundation of society in Tibet. People live with a spirit of community and harmony and it reminded much of the tale of the ‘four animals’ for a moment. The longer I spent within Tibet, the more I discovered, diving deep into the culture that the country had preserved for many years.
