Tibetan Temples part 2

in #photography5 years ago

Much of the ongoing rituals would involve religious instruments and objects and this is where I could see more art and scriptures being used among followers. Every action in the religion has a purpose with a long running line of history and wisdom behind its values. I spent some time with the local people to understand some of this but as with most religions, there is much to be understood and I felt as if I was simply scratching the surface in understanding the culture and beliefs in this beautiful country.

Tibetan temples and monasteries have a unique architectural style that is often accompanied with religious art. Much of this embodies the various beliefs that are followed in the country and it is another testament to how important religion is in Tibetan society. Many of the temples were designed centuries ago and much of the designs were consistent, with slight variations that were seen to accommodate certain religious purposes. Throughout time, many of the surviving temples in Tibet have been maintained and restored while retaining much of their historical origins. It is almost like being transported back in time when visiting these marvellous temples as much of the architecture has been emulated to reflect its brilliance of the past. I had the pleasure of visiting various temples and each and every time I would find them to be occupied with worshippers and tourists no matter the time of day. It was truly inspiring to see such devotion and I came to admire the Tibetan people for their discipline and wisdom.
