Resin and Mason bees going into bamboo tubes
For awhile I thought only one kind of bee was visiting the homes I made for them. Recently I have been seeing different colored mud being used on some of the bamboo tubes. Usually Mason bees just take whatever is around them, usually red Georgia clay which is rich in iron and place it on the holes. Though recently I have been seeing white powdery mud used on some of the holes.

Mason bees have a black abdomen and but besides that look simular to honey bees. As the colony forming honey bees have a yellow striped abdomen.
The mason bees antenna are a little longer, and are a little smaller than a honey bee.
The Resin bee has a bright yellow spot on the bottom of its abdomen, as seen in the above photo. And their homes are made with a white mud material.
Both Mason bees and the Resin bees seem to get along without issue. Sharing tubes near by and just occasionally harassing each other. Though it seems all bees do this, I dont know why.
I think both the Mason Bees and Resin Bees are quite happy with the bamboo homes. I am glad I found such a great use for bamboo as its quite invasive around where I live and most people just throw it out.

thanks @nevlu123 for the animation
when I was in primary school there was a beehive and the students were kept beating it, the bees building it and some students from my school keep beating it every day, in the end, the school asked someone to remove it from the tree
The end of the story!
@cityofstars lol glad no one but the bees got hurt. They do tend to build nests wherever they want.

Cool info, I picked up a bee house and am looking forward to getting it placed.
@jamethiel oh cool a solitary bee home or a honey bee home?

Solitary bee home, with a bunch of tubes and spots to hide. I'll try to get a photo when we hang it up.
@jamethiel oh sweet! Looking forward to what uses it. It can take a year or so for them to know where it is and start using it.
