Wide Angle Wednesday - Morris Town Canyon

in #photography6 years ago

I recently did a 12-hour drive so my husband could catch a commercial flight to bring back the repaired helicopter. I did stop at a small town called Morris Town to take a couple of photos of this canyon. Normally, since this is on a reserve, the natives are fishing at this time of year, but you can see the water is raging just yet so I don't think fishing would be a lot of fun.

I would have liked to use the photo above as my gif, but that one I moved way more than this one. Next time I'll bring a tripod, but this trip I simply slammed on the breaks and ran to the edge for a photo.

I hope you enjoyed my post because I enjoyed making it.

It looks as if it's been a wet year up there, too. It's definitely got to be hard to fish in that mess!

I never did much with GIFs, but used one awhile back for the transparency. The animated ones look kind of fun :-)

How difficult was it to get the helicopter repaired? It looked like you were in a bit of a remote area, when it had trouble.

Oh, and do you ever say "Get to da choppa!" in a Schwarzenegger-esque accent? :-D

Haaaa nope but I will now with the Arnie voice lol.
We lucked out with finding a qualified engineer. That helicopter has a Lycoming engine in it which is the same engine in many fixed wing as well, basically unheard of to have trouble with them especially when the chopper isn’t even a year old. Weird.
I really like doing the gifs but a tripod is definitely needed. I did notice that for some reason the size allowed for the gifs has gotten smaller. I had some cool ones but by the time I shortened it, it wasn’t useable.

Wow... Not even a year old and that happened? I wonder if someone missed a step in the manufacturing facility or something.

Do you know what the limitations for GIFs are? I suppose the info is out there, somewhere.

lol, I can't help but wonder if someone showed up hung over or just had a really bad day :)
As for the limitations for the gif's, lately it seems if mine are under 7-10mb they work. If I happen to use HDR then I have a lot of trouble, meaning that by the time I shorten up my gif enough it isn't worth it.

Hrm. I wonder if you can ppost larger GIF files on Flickr. I may try posting one there and just linking the URL to a post.

Of course, all that will have to wait until I can see again... The clinic used 24-hour dilation drops yesterday, and I can barely read what I'm writing.

Wow, isn't 24-hr dilation a lot more than normal? And thanks!, I'll give Flickr a try next time I'm having trouble :)

The normal dilation drops last 4-5 hours, but these ones... After an hour wait (they were way behind), they finally put the drops in at 2 PM. My eyes were still blurry and ultra light sensitive at bed time the following day. Fortunately, they were what passes for "normal" this morning!

οοο!! it is beautiful place!!! It is worth the twelve hours driving! :)

That water is definitely rushing. Is that an area where the melt comes down and causes that? I bet a skilled fly fisherman could pull something out of there!

Yes it is the snow melt that causes that. It’s always wonderful to watch a skillled fly fisherman (looks very artistic to me:) but the natives are allowed to spear fish there. I’m going to guess the spear fishing is for show but that too is neat to watch!
Mmmm now I’m missing Florida red snapper:)

Thats why i think you need a second heli ! great pics as always ! The scenery is peace of mind !

Lol, totally agree with you there :)

wow this photo looks like from a painting!!

i would love to draw that scene on digital! i like to draw landscapes jaja

Thanks!

Beautiful pic 👌🏼 looks very peaceful and idyllic 🙂
