West Coast Trip - Raptors

This post is dedicated to the New Hampshire Bird Lady .... you know who you are

It was a beautiful clear warm day after a few days welcome rain. I decided to take my bestest half @fempower up the West Coast to a small fishing village called Yzerfontein for a seafood lunch. Obviously the camera had to go with as there are pristine beaches along that coast.

More fun was had chasing after birds.... and that is the main focus of this blog. As most if not all of these birds were perched on telephone wires... the accompanying music has to be Leonard

Black Shouldered Kite

These black shouldered Kites are small, slightly bigger than a dove but they are lightening fast and can hover for minutes at a time waiting for rodents or snakes to move in the field. Beautiful little birds.

There were other raptors but mostly the sun was in the wrong position and the results were poor... just in case you think I is kidding ... here comes a bad example of a beautiful little bird which I have not seen often. He is rusty reddish brown with a dark grey / black head.
