Getting close to the peninsula

We are back on another sea day today, as we inch closer to the Antarctic Peninsula, which I can not wait to back around this beautiful part of the Southern Ocean. Yesterday we had the unexpected day at the South Orkney Islands at place called Laurie Island, which was amazing! Great weather conditions allowed us to cruise along this unexplored coastline looking for whatever type of animals we could find and we were happily surprised with lots of brush tail penguin species, as well as, the usual predators lurking close by.

Adelie and Chinstrap penguins were of course around, which are always adorable and great to take some photos of as they went about their daily live. Here we were watching a small nesting colony of Chinstrap Penguins when an Adelie arrived and began to pose for our zodiac cruise, which enabled me to grab a couple of photos before waddling its way through the colony and then into the ocean to forage for some lunch.
